Tramcar Sponsorship Organisation

The Tramcar Sponsorship Organisation is a UK registered charity, dedicated to acquiring, restoring, repairing and housing heritage tramcars and tramway equipment for preservation at the National Tramway Museum.

The TSO, over the years, have contributed funds for 20 of trams in the NTM fleet, such as Blackpool 167, Newcastle 102 and Chesterfield 7. These funds support full restoration, a contribution to repairs or money to provide transport to Crich.

The members participate in discussions on how funds will be spent and also receive periodic updates on the progress of the work. If you feel like you would like to help financially support the TSO and have a say on future restoration projects, you can join the TSO from as little as £2 per month. Your support is vital in keeping this unique piece of our transport history alive.

LCCTT

The London County Council Tramways Trust (LCCTT) is UK registered charity 298606 dedicated to educating the public about the history of London’s tramways. It achieves this aim by ensuring the preservation and restoration historic London tramcars and related tramway artefacts.

One of their major achievements was the funding of the extensive ten-year £500,000 restoration of the London County Council (LCC) tramcar No.1 known as ‘Bluebird’.

The meticulous restoration of 'Bluebird' carried out on site at the National Tramway Museum won the prestigious Heritage Railway Association award for Diesel or Electric Locomotion in February 2025.

The LCCTT works closely with the National Tramway Museum to house, display and operate the NTM collection of tramcars. The Trust also collects and preserves smaller artefacts, engineering drawings and historical records that can be made available for research.
