Make a Donation

Crich Tramway Village is operated, along with the National Tramway Museum, by the Tramway Museum Society, which is a registered charity.  We rely on entrance fees to cover the staffing and running costs for the site, and like other charities, we rely on donations from the general public and our membership to enable us to continue to enhance and protect the work we have done for over 60 years.  We also carry out sponsored restoration projects for other heritage tramway organisations.

If you would like to make a donation, however large or small, we would be enormously grateful.  Simply complete the form below.
You can Gift Aid it by completing the form on the Gift Aid page. That means we will receive an additional 25p for every £1 you have donated. Please see: https://www.tramway.co.uk/contact/gift-aid

How the money will be used

If you select ‘No preference’ your money will be used in an unrestricted way, where the Society is not required to spend the money on any particular project. This is obviously helpful in enabling the money to be put to immediate use, either by itself or, for bigger projects, together with moneys received from similar donations.

You can select to donate to specific projects such as those indicated in the drop-down menu above. The money will then only be used for that project or area.

The General Museum fund is used for smaller projects as the Society considers appropriate. These may include projects relating to tramcar restoration, maintenance of the physical infrastructure of the operational tramway, new buildings, library and archive projects, replacement of existing exhibits or the funding of new ones, street developments, street furniture and fixtures, trees, and the development of areas such as the woodland walk, picnic areas and similar.

If you are a tax payer and can Gift Aid, please complete our Gift Aid form. This will increase your donation by 25p for every £1.

ACCESS TRAM 2

We’re launching our appeal for a new Access Tram for Crich Tramway Village, suitable for wheelchair users and visitors with walking difficulties, following the decision to retire the former Access Tram, which has served us so well over many years.
Built in the 1980s as one of Blackpool’s last ‘old generation’ trams, Centenary type tram 645 was generously donated by Blackpool Transport Services and tramway member Peter Whiteley. As a worthy successor to ‘Eric’, 645 has many strengths – not least its robust construction, to take a centre lift capable of taking heavy wheelchairs, lots of seats, and one-person operation.
It needs a lot of work to get it into working order as ‘Access Tram 2’, but when finished it will be in regular operation at our museum, with capacity for families and large groups to ride together (unlike its smaller predecessor). We are now determined to carry out this project over a 12 month window, but we need to raise £120,000 to carry out:
• full refurbishment, including reinstatement of electronics
• installation of a special heavy duty wheelchair lift
• fitting out with new features for visitors with various access needs (Crich Tramway Village is very popular with over a sixth of our visitors self-recording as disabled or less able)
We know we can match fund and obtain some parts we need at cost or cut prices – and our volunteer team is keen to get to work as soon as possible. We’re looking for other project sponsors and partners, but you can help now, by making a donation through Make a Donation (above). Alternatively, we’re excited to announce our new partnership with the Derby Community Lottery, meaning you can support this fundraiser and at the same time have a chance to win cash prizes! See https://www.derbycommunitylottery.co.uk/support/crich-tramway-village Please help us spread the word!
